I downloaded this app solely because I wanted to practice writing with proper stroke order, but the moment I downloaded it, it said I needed a Pro Subscription in order to convert. This app is not for those who want to write in traditional characters.

Too many ads Makes stroke order checking paid What’s the point of this app if all of its basic functionality is paid?

The paid pro version, which is supposedly ad-free, does not work when connected to an ad-blocking proxy or ad-blocking VPN. This doesn’t make a lot of sense. Otherwise, the app works well.

Very good app, supports traditional and simplified strokes, but unlike other apps with family purchase support, this app does not seem to allow lifetime pro or monthly purchases to be shared among family members. Many if not all of my other apps do. Therefore, it will be great if the app developer could update its add-in/subscriptions to support family purchase properly.

Very useful, comes with pronunciation, HSK references, and many other features I do not use. My one wish is that it also showed modern sans serif (not sure if that is the right term) for showing a more modern, computer/ballpoint style. Some characters look quite different and I occasionally don't recognize them.

Great program. Just what I needed to compliment the the Chinese character books I’m studying. Easy to use and understand. I give this one a thumbs up.

It asks to track data across other apps. I’m angry because this is a paid app, now I had to delete it to avoid intrusive ads, and I wasted my money.

I’ve tried Skritter + Noodle. While these apps have fancy bells and whistles such as spaced repetition and self testing, Strokes Order is my new go-to for handwriting practice. It has a no-nonsense interface which shows you your actual handwriting strokes instead of an idealized ’perfect’ character that the fancy apps render. This is superior design choice-as knowing where you fall short while writing a character gives you honest feedback and motivation for improvement. The developer is also very responsive. The previous version had a blocky background font for Traditional characters in the handwriting practice mode. I wrote the developer a quick note, and Viola - font background preferences for handwriting practice has now been implemented. Excellent!

I love this app. But for some reason, after the current update, it no longer rotate to horizontal view anymore when i rotate my ipad. What happened?

I was hoping the free version would work for what I need, and I won’t need to use the app everyday, only occasionally, so I’m not trying to spend $5.99/month or $11.99/year for something that I won’t be using every single day. I’m just using it for practice & review while I’m learning Chinese but it’s basically unusable. I can only see traditional Chinese, and I would have to subscribe in order to even see it in simplified. You can’t even translate from English to Chinese, which would be a helpful feature. Unless you plan to use this app often & are willing to subscribe, it isn’t worth your time.

I got this app to help my little brother on Chinese but it is so dumb ads pop up every single Second and won’t let me do anything anymore!!! I hate this app more than anything

Every action is assaulted with a pop-up trying to get you to give them money. You don’t get to try the app at all. Miss leading description. Author is rude to reviewers. (Can’t wait to hear from him.)

Pop up audio adds make the free version unusable

The founder is so fast at communicating. Download it and also pay for the upgrade. Essential for my chinese class

I bought this app because my kid wanted to listen to the sound of the strokes and the free version doesn’t have it and says I have to purchase the pro version. But the pro version doesn’t have it either. It is useless. Very disappointed. The support link is broken and I couldn’t find any contact email.

Why Do we need PRO VERSION TO USE SOME FEATURES! PLEASE MAKE THEM AVALIVBLE IN THE REGULAR VERSION. I would give you 5 star if you did that.

This app is basically google translate with advertising.

I was fine with the occasional ad, but now every time you open the app you get 2 ads for every character. The app and these ads also prevents you from listening from audio on another app which is extremely frustrating if I’m trying to study chinese. I don’t know if buying the pro version would even help with preventing my audio from another app from turning off because the ads are just that prevalent. Is the sound turning off due to the ad or because I switched to a different character? Unclear. I really truly regret updating to the latest version. The app is great in terms of UX, but there are plenty of online resources that provide the same thing for free — and ad free. I liked the idea of donating “a cup of coffee” to the developers, but who would bother doing that now?

My wife is Chinese and neither of us can get it to say we wrote a character correctly.

I love this app. I use it in conjunction with the Google Translate app and it covers everything I need. Thank you for creating this app. You are really helping me learn Chinese. Just ads, no idea how to work. Not intuitive. Tried many options, just ended up watching more ads. Useless, but there are many apps much better so no problem.

I appreciate this app greatly! As I’m teaching myself to become literate in reading and writing Chinese, stroke order is pretty important to me personally. I love the animated stroke order and the ability to draw/practice on the app itself. Really helpful and does exactly what it says!

Just what I needed as try to learn to write characters. Can enter in whole phrases at a time. Using the apple Chinese keyboard voice to text, the whole process is even more efficient.

Learning how to write in Chinese with accuracy is no easy feat! This app takes a lot of the edge off and allows for deeper study which helps with learning the mechanics of the written language! Highly recommended!

It’s worth it’s weight in gold. The definitions are quite useful, better than Google translate. Chairman Xi should reward this program author as they have done a superior job. It makes learning so much fun. In addition I live the advertising which I find very interesting. The author should become wealthy. May God Bless you for your hard work!

The app was good before the updates but now there are too many ads.

This app is simple and intuitive. I only have one suggestion - Since different countries use different stroke orders, it would be nice to be able to find info specific to one's region. For instance, the character 必 is written in many different ways, and the stroke order in the app doesn't match my region.

Perfect for learning stroke order, even for most radicals. Does the job smoothly.

You will want Chinese input set up on your iPad so that you can type in the character you are looking for.

Honestly, this app has saved my Chinese grade. It's great how you can slow down or speed up the process and it has made my character practice much for efficient and they look so much better now! Love this app.
